these abstract images were taken in the lower ouseburn valley, specifically on the paths next to the ouse burn in newcastle upon tyne; all of them show the burn water to varying degrees. the steep banks and sloping surrounds were a hub of river traffic and industrial works following the industrial revolution, and the remnants of buildings and boatsheds, and unusual plants associated with these, give the valley a singular and somewhat exotic character in the city. the burn, which is tidal, originates in callerton and joins the tyne between st peter's basin and the quayside proper
